Manufacturers use Czech, Austrian, Swarovski, Indian and Chinese crystals and are labeled as such when specified by the manufacturer.
The metals used in fashion jewelry are usually silver and gold tones over casting metal or base metal. Brass and copper are used as well. Semi Precious and Precious Metals will be noted as Sterling Silver, 925 Sterling, 10kt, 14kt etc. Palladium Silver is a member of the Platinum Family. Rhodium Plating is a coating used to prevent tarnishing of Silver and gives a white gold effect, and is noted when used.
All stones and beads are faux unless specified as genuine. CZ’s are genuine.
According to our suppliers, the manufacturers have not specified that any nickel or lead is used in the products. The suppliers have stated that the products are nickel and lead free. Bella Shaye has “chosen” not to list these products as nickel and lead free unless the product packaging has been labeled as such. All manufacturers are working on producing nickel and lead free fashion jewelry. Lead (when it does occur) in fashion jewelry is in very small amounts, usually due to soldering. If you should have a sensitivity to these metals, it is recommended that you not purchase “fashion jewelry” and purchase products labeled as free of these metals or semi precious and precious metals such as sterling silver, platinum or gold. Be sure to check with the retailer first to see if the products contain lead or nickel before making your purchase. As we are updated at Bella Shaye, we will make the customer aware of products that are known to be lead and nickel free.
Manufacturers and suppliers are working to provide the retailers more “detailed” descriptions of their products. Fashion Jewelry changes daily and makes it difficult for suppliers to give detailed descriptions. Thousands of designs are produced each day. As these details occur we will update our descriptions at Bella Shaye.
